Search & Rescue


Clearwater County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (CCSSAR) is a volunteer organization serving Clearwater County and assisting the Sheriff’s Office with various search and rescue as well as law enforcement activities. The organization is comprised of a General Membership from which are derived various teams. Each team is comprised of a team leader, assistant team leader if necessary and the team members. There is a scheduled meeting at 7:0 PM on the last Monday of each month with a training session prior to each meeting starting at 6:30 PM.  Teams will have training throughout the year to prepare the team to meet its goals.

CCSSAR has search and rescue equipment to be utilized during their activities consisting of, but not limited to, 2 complete base camps, a fully equipped dive trailer, three 4X4 pickup trucks, a command trailer, multiple ATVs/UTVs, a 6X6 ATV, 2 snowmobiles, a radio repeater, several radios and GPS units, portable generators and lighting units and a fresh water supply trailer. Personal equipment is also utilized by members including ATVs, UTVs, snobikes, snowmobiles, 4X4 pickups, personal gear in search packs, radios and GPS units.

Each team has requirements set by the team leader consisting of training requirements, participation, physical ability, number of team members, equipment etc. On the "Teams" page is a list of teams their function and the basic requirements. Additional requirements are at the discretion of the team leader.
