Accident Highway 12

MEDIA RELEASE:

From the Sheriff's Office: On 9/1219, at approximately 10:22 am, a deputy was dispatched to a two vehicle, non-injury accident, near mile post 46, on Highway 12. When the officer arrived he found two vehicles setting in the west bound lane.  The first vehicle was a red Dodge pickup, driven by Jerry B. Lange (Age 72), from Weippe, Idaho. The second vehicle was a Buick car, driven by Carolyn L. Johnson (Age 78), from Craigmont, Idaho. Lange was traveling west on Highway 12, when he saw the other driver pulling out from the driveway that goes to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, on to the highway. Johnson, was also traveling west. Lange said he moved over and tried to slow down, but Johnson struck his vehicle in the drivers side. It appeared to be approximately $1500 damage to Lange's vehicle. Johnson stated she did not see him coming down the road and she speculated her view was blocked by the A-post on the passenger side of her car. Johnson's vehicle had about $2500.00 in damage. Neither driver appeared to be injured, but EMS did respond to evaluate the drivers if needed. Johnson was issued two infraction citations, one for Failure to Yield when entering a highway, and the second for Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance.
